When a local pre-school set out to create a large-scale sustainability-themed family day in Singapore, their goal was to inspire children and parents to embrace eco-friendly living through fun and meaningful experiences. With over 600 participants from two districts (a total of five schools), the challenge lay not only in delivering engaging activities but also in managing complex logistics to ensure a seamless flow for everyone.

A One-of-a-Kind Venue: Vidacity
Hosting the event at Vidacity, Singapore’s unique urban farming hub, elevated the family day into something truly special. Surrounded by lush greenery, innovative farm systems, and eco-conscious facilities, the venue itself became a living classroom where families could explore how sustainable living fits into modern city life.
Although it doesn’t have lift access to level 2, we discussed with our partners to manage the logistics in an efficient manner while ensuring nobody is left out due to the accessibility.

Engaging Sustainability Activities for Families
Our event design blended fun with hands-on learning, ensuring that children and parents left with both wonderful memories and practical eco-knowledge.
- 🌱 Farm Tours & Green Scavenger Hunt: Families explored Vidacity’s farming spaces, discovering how food is grown in urban environments while solving eco-challenges.
- 🌱DIY Planter Workshop (Upcycling Bottles): Participants transformed plastic bottles into planters, learning about plant propagation and bringing home their sustainable creations.
- 🎨 Eco-Crafts & Wood Bark Painting: Children expressed creativity while reinforcing the idea that art can be sustainable.
- 🎪 Eco-Themed Carnival Games: Games like Recycling Throw and Fish the Rubbish delivered environmental lessons in fun and interactive ways.
- 🎭 Sustainability Magic Show by Mr Bottle: With interactive magic, children learned the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in a way that was memorable and exciting.

All-time favourites fringe activities
We included all-time favourite fringe activities for the Pre-school’s Sustainability Family Day like:
- Ball Pit – We have proposed a 5x5m ball pit, so there is sufficient room for children. The ball pit is also kept exclusive for infants for safety. We also proposed a time rotational schedule to ensure minimal queue and maximum playtime.
- Balloon sculpting
- Facepainting
- Caricature

Highlight: The Interactive Insect Experience
One of the most unique activities was the interactive insect encounter, where children not only learned about the crucial role insects play in ecosystems but also overcame fears by holding them. This hands-on activity left many participants with a newfound appreciation for biodiversity.

Professional Event Management for Large Groups
Managing 600 participants across two overlapping groups from different districts required expertise in event management in Singapore. Our team leveraged years of experience to design smooth rotations and engaging schedules:
- Staggered timings ensured no activity was overcrowded.
- Ensure everyone is comfortable in venues where there is no air-con.
- Optimal sound management (to reduce echo) in a hall with high ceilings.
- Managing 2 groups of Guest-of-Honours to ensure smooth transitions and arrival for them.
- Dedicated facilitators and signs with strategic placement guided each group on where to go, keeping energy and focus high.
- Optimised use of Vidacity’s indoor and outdoor spaces balanced comfort with immersive experiences.
- Buffer activities like the toddler ball pit and snack stations reduced waiting times and kept families happy.
This careful planning meant every child and parent enjoyed a smooth, engaging, and stress-free experience.
